| Our History |
The Monroe Twp. Roller Hockey League began operating as an organized
club under the guidelines of the Monroe Twp. Department of Recreation
in 1998. It was started by Carmine Gizze (Volunteer) and Lynne Keiser
(Recreation Supervisor).
Carmine (who actually had no children in the league) and Lynne got
together to approach the Recreation and Township council about starting a
hockey program in our town as there were numerous children playing roller
hockey in the parking lot of the community center on a daily basis. They
put a plan together, proposed it to both councils and the rest is history.
The town secured additional land adjacent to the community center and built
an outdoor hockey rink. Teams were organized, sponsors were gathered and the
game of organized roller hockey came to Monroe.
The league started with 60 boys and girls back in 1998. For the Fall 2000/Spring 2001
seasons, our league grew by 47%. Our league has grow similarly for the Winter 2001/Spring 2002
seasons. The growth was another 39% for a total of 135 active players. We have had
tremendous success in growing our organization.
Today, Carmine, now with children in the league, continues to run the league along
with five other individuals. Below is our organizational committee:
- Carmine Gizze - President, Jersey's, Sponsors, Banquet
- Dom Caccavale - Treasurer and Equipment Managing
- Paul D'Ambrosio - Scheduling and Statistics
- John McNutt - Head of Officiating
- John Micalizzi - Snack Bar and Work Bonds
- Chris Pieron - Web Site

| What We Offer |
We offer the opportunity for Monroe Twp. boys and girls, ages 5-17, to participate
in an organized street/roller hockey league. We teach them the fundamentals
of the game in a structured environment. We teach them how to skate, the rules of
the game as well as how to have a good time.
We run 2 seasons throughout each year. Our Fall season goes from October -
January. Our Spring season runs from March - June. In 2002, we introduced
clinics for children ages 5 and Under. Children pay $35 per season to play.
They are scheduled at least 13 games to play. Their registration fee includes
the following items:
- Their own jersey to keep
- Free admission to our annual banquet
- Two tickets for their parents for the banquet
- Trophies
- And last but certainly not least, a GREAT time
At the end of each Spring season, we hold our annual Hockey Banquet. This is
where our children get to receive the awards for not only their participation
in our league, but any other awards they might be eligible for such as Most
Improved, Team MVP, League MVP or Leading Scorer.
We certainly do our best to offer as much as we can for as little as we can.
